Loren's Preschool Closing Ceremony 2009

Today we had the closing ceremony for Loren's preschool. Hard to believe the school year is over already!! She had a wonderful year with two amazing teachers! Even Kaylynn grew attached to them! They did many fun activities, she made new friends, and learned a lot! We won't be returning to this preschool next year, we'll be going to a new school, so it was kind of sad to see the year end, but we're excited to start a new school!

Here are some pictures and video:

Loren's Broken Arm

Saturday May 16th we were at our neighbor, Joy's wedding. Loren had been looking forward to the wedding all day! She got a new dress and was just so excited to dance and play with Addy! We even did her nails and she got to wear one of my necklaces! She felt so beautiful! We were at the wedding and she was having a lot of fun dancing with the other kids when (while we didn't actually see the event, this is what she described happened)...some kids were running around crazy and ran into her and she fell on her arm. She started SCREAMING! Luckily our neighbor's daughter, Amanda was near and she got me to help Loren. Loren continued to cry for a good 20+ minutes (dozing off in my lap as well). We finally decided to just take her home because she was so tired. We didn't really think anything was majorly wrong with her, we just thought she was overtired. We got home (she fell asleep in the car), but woke up when we tried to get her inside. It took a long time (over an hour) to get her to sleep because her arm hurt and she also had blisters on her feet from her shoes. Again, we just thought she was overtired. She was up a few times that night crying about her arm hurting.

In the morning she seemed ok with the arm. She continued to self-immobilize it, but could move her elbow and stuff. Even Joe's mom didn't think there was anything wrong with it. Until later in the day she tried to pick up a piece of wood and couldn't and burst into tears! So finally at about 8pm I left and took her to the hospital. There they did an x-ray and sure enough, it was broken. You could see it clear as day. They put on a temporary cast. Monday 5/18 we went to the orthopedic and he put on the regular cast. He said it was a "buckle break" and it's a clean break so it should heal nicely! So that's good! It also is a half cast, so it's just up to her elbow, which means she can still bend and unbend her elbow! Loren picked a pink color for her cast and was able to get a waterproof one (which is good so she can continue swim lessons and take a normal bath and everything). She's been doing really good with the cast, figuring out how to use her left hand to write (she's surprisingly good at writing with her left hand), and creating other ways of doing things. She'll have the cast on for 3 weeks then they will take it off and put another one back on (he said they change it after 3 weeks because they get gross)! So a total of 6 weeks and then she should be done! So that's good!!

Here are some pictures:

Here are the girls all dressed and ready to party! So pretty!!

After the great fall, you can see how upset she is!

17 weeks

Just a simple update on #3. I started wearing a few maternity pants this week. I was trying to avoid them at all cost, but regular pants just got too uncomfortable. Other people are also starting to notice the growing belly. A teacher at Loren's school asked me today if I was expecting. Guess I can't hide it anymore! I do think that I started to feel it move the other day. Just little flutters.

Funny story about Kaylynn...she jumps onto my lap often and I had to tell her to be careful because it hurt my tummy because there's a baby in there. And she then said there's a baby in her tummy too. She then said "AHH....bite you!!" (like the baby might bite her)!! It was so funny!!! She really doesn't get it at all, but Loren definitely does. She keeps asking how many "night-nights" until baby comes. And she also thinks it's a boy and keeps trying to come up with names for it! Guess we'll see in a couple weeks!

15 weeks

On Friday May 1st I had my 15 week check-up. Nothing too exciting. Gained 4lbs, baby's heart rate was 150, my bp was 110/64 and I measured a little "big" at 16cm. I go back on May 29th for the "big" ultrasound. I still haven't taken any "belly" pictures. Maybe one of these days....

Don't forget to vote on the right side of the blog....do you think #3 will be a boy or a girl?!?

Edited - The ultrasound will be on Saturday May 30th. Kaylynn starts her speech every other friday, and the 29th will be a speech day, so we had to reschedule (they only do ultrasounds in the mornings). I originally rescheduled to Monday June 1st but then realized that the girls still had swim lessons. Ugh! So Saturday May 30th will be the day we hopefully find out what is growing in my tummy!!

Swim Lesson videos

I know, more swim lessons...but Loren is really learning a lot this session (and Kaylynn just loves the water)!! Last week she was able to flip from a front float to a back float, so I brought camera to try to video tape it today, but she wasn't able to do it. Still got a few little video of the girls swimming!! And Kaylynn's group was divided into two (it's a larger class) and she's in the more "advanced" group...and apparently for this age, that means she'll actually get her hair and face wet!!

Below is Kaylynn at swim lessons:

Here is Loren learning "breathing" for the front crawl:

Here is Loren floating (she's already floating then tries to flip over). Then the instructor helps her back float before letting her go on her own:

Kaylynn swimming again. I actually missed most of what they were doing in this one, it took to long for the camera to turn on!
