Eryn's 2 Week Appointment

Today (10/27/09) Eryn had her 2 week doctor appointment. She is looking wonderful! She gained 7oz and now weighs 8lbs 8oz (59%), so she's more than she was at birth!! Her length is now 21 1/4inches (85%) and her head circumference is 37cm (76%). I'm not surprised she's growing so well, she eats like crazy!! Dr. Tjaden said she looks great! We go back when she's 2 months!!

Here are just a few random pictures of Eryn:

Eryn's Hospital Pictures

The hospital (Northwest Community) has a photography group come in and take the newborn pictures! These are way nicer than the ones they used to have for the other two girls!! I thought they turned out great! Eryn loved her first "photo shoot"!

Beth back in the hospital...

Yesterday Beth went to her OB office for a quick blood pressure check. Her BP was 172/127 (super super high), they were worried that she would have a stroke. So they wanted her to go to the ER right away. I was home with Loren and Kaylynn, so she had to wait while I got the kids all together and get over there. In the ER they gave her a bunch of meds to get the BP down. It stayed high around 150's / 90's so they admitted her for observation and to figure out what meds work best. At first they were saying she may not be able to keep Eryn with her. She got VERY upset about that and even told Dr. Blazek that if she didn't get to keep Eryn with her, she'd throw a very big temper tantrum!! Luckily they let her to back to the mother/baby unit and keep Eryn, the catch was that someone had to stay with her to keep an eye one Eryn since she wasn't the patient. Beth's mom came and stayed with her over night then my dad stayed with her the rest of the day while I took the kids to school and their various activities. She is expected to come home today, but will probably be on blood pressure meds for a couple weeks.

Eryn's 5 day doctor appointment

Today (10/19/09) we had Eryn's first ever pediatrician appointment! When she was discharged from the hospital, she weighed 7lbs 14oz (so she had lost about a half pound from her birth weight). Today at her appointment she already gained back a couple ounces and now weighs 8lbs 1oz! Dr. Tjaden said she looks great!! He also gave Kaylynn her flu shot, which she was very excited to get! She sat up on the exam table by herself and didn't cry or anything! She was more excited about the band-aid than anything!!

Loren's 5th Birthday

Today my big girl turned 5!!! I can't believe it's been 5 years already!! For some reason 5 seems just so big! To celebrate her big day, we made her a birthday pancake for breakfast, candle and all! Then we invited Booma/Boompa, Grandma/Grandpa, and GG over. We went to Chuck E Cheese for lunch!! We've gone there every year for their birthdays and just like the past years, the girls were REALLY excited to go! They enjoyed playing the games and going on the little rides and stuff.

After lunch we went home and Loren got to open her present from Booma and Boompa before they went home. She got a couple cute outfits and a barbie and Belle crown. Grandma/Grandpa and GG stayed and made a delicious turkey and mashed potato dinner. Uncle Jeremy and Rebecca joined us as well. After dinner we had cake and Loren got to open more presents! She got some more outfits, a polly pockets, a sticker book, another barbie and clothes for the barbie. Kaylynn passed out after presents...she was soo tired!!! Loren said she had a fun day and can't wait for her party in November! As I was putting Loren to bed she said to me "I can't believe I'm 5!!" I couldn't agree more!!

Here are pictures from her birthday:

Eryn's First Sponge Bath

Today (10/17/09) we decided to give Eryn her first sponge bath at home! Loren and Kaylynn were very excited to help!! They gently washed her hair and her body with soap and water. Kaylynn even decided to wash her own legs. Eryn wasn't very impressed with the bath, she mostly cried.

Here are some pictures from the first sponge bath:

Truck or Treat

Today (10/17/09) Daddy took Loren and Kaylynn to the beach for "truck or treat"! They bring in a bunch of trucks, street sweepers, cranes, fire trucks, police cars, etc. fort he kids to sit in and look at, then they get candy!! Addy and Jim/Julie went with too! Despite it being pretty chilly out, the girls enjoyed exploring the different trucks! Loren said her favorite was the big crane (Kaylynn didn't say which she liked best)!

Eryn's Birth Story

Wednesday (10/14/09) morning I was at the dance studio with Kaylynn for her dance class. At around 9:15 I got a call from Dr. Blazek saying that my blood pressure the day before at my doctor appointment really had her worried and she wanted me to come in and be induced. I told her I'd be there in about an hour and a half (turned out it took much longer to get there). I called Joe and told him to get home, then called my mom and told her that we'll need her to watch Loren and Kaylynn. After Kaylynn's class, I went home and started to get things ready to go, finished washing Kaylynn's sheets, packed, etc. Then we went and got Loren from school, returned stuff to the library, stopped at Wendy's for Kaylynn to go potty, then finally got to my parents house to drop the girls off. It was about 12:40 when I got a call from Dr. Blazek wondering where I was! I told her we'd be there very soon!!!

I finally got to the hospital around 1:00pm. Dr. Geitmann was still there, so he examined me and broke my water. There was no turning back now!! I quickly started to have contractions and Dr. Blazek said I could have an epidural (even though I was only 1-2 cm). Around 5:00 I got the epidural. Funny story about the epidural...the nurse asked me if a "student" could observe the procedure, and we said that would be fine (thinking it would be a med or college student). Turns out it was a high school student (from BG) taking a pre-nursing class through Harper. The anesthesiologist was talking to her during the procedure, when halfway through, she said "I think I need to sit down, I'm not feeling well!!" So our nurse took her out into the hallway!!! Just kind of funny!!

The epidural took a while to work, they kept giving me more and more of it. Finally around 7 I was completely numb from my belly down!! The nurse checked me at about 7:15 and I was completely dilated already!! That's probably why the epidural wasn't working well!! I started pushing at 7:35 and Eryn was born at 8:17. She was face up, which made getting her out more difficult. Dr. Blazek was impressed I was able to push her out! Yay, me!

She got all cleaned up and I got to hold her and spend some time with her! She nursed really well the right away, I was proud of her! She's already very smart! :)

Once I got to the mother-baby unit, I was feeling rather nauseous. I ended up getting sick, which was unpleasant. I felt better the next morning, which was good because we were having our hospital pictures taken! They turned out great, and I'll post pictures in another post.

That afternoon, our nurse, Teya (who we kind of befriended) came in asking if we'd want to do a photo shoot for the hospital's annual nursing report magazine! Two photographers came in and took a bunch of pictures of us and our nurse! So we got to have more pictures taken! It was a rather fun experience!!

That evening Loren and Kaylynn came to meet their new baby sister! Loren was SO proud to hold her! I can't believe what a big girl she is and how excited she was to see her new sister! While she's not a fan of the name (she says she has a friend named Aaron, so that's confusing for her), she does like her sister. She keeps calling her "the baby"! Kaylynn likes her and likes to give her kisses, but other that that, is rather unimpressed with her for now.

Thursday night Daddy went home to be with Loren and Kaylynn, so Eryn and I got some nice bonding alone at the hospital! Daddy came back Friday afternoon to get us from the hospital and go home! We came home to Loren and Kaylynn anxiously waiting for us and Grandpa excited to meet his newest granddaughter!

That night we had a "movie night" and watched Monsters vs Aliens and had popcorn. It was a fun and relaxing way to spend out first night home as a family of five!!

Below is a link to all the pictures taken at the hospital and from Eryn's first few days at home, including her first bath at home as well as various visitors:

Introducing...

Eryn Maureen Attanaseo

Born: 10/14/2009 - 8:17pm
8 lbs. 7 oz. - 20 in.

It's nice to meet you all! Ok, here's the story as I was told. I don't remember must as it happened! 1 day after her high blood pressure reading, mommy was asked to come in to deliver me! We arrived at the hospital a few hours later after dropping my Super Big Sisters Loren and Kaylynn off with Booma! (Thanks for your help!)

Labor began quickly around 1:30 or so and was fully dialated at 7:15 pm. Mommy started pushing about 7:37 pm and I was born at 8:17! The outside world is very cold! That's about all I remember for now! Mommy is coming home soon and I'll let her fill you all in on the details! I'm tired! I'm gonna get some food, have a poop and take a nap! See you all soon!

Here are some more pics of me at the hospital!
