Milwaukee Irish Fest 2007

This weekend was the Irish Fest in Milwaukee, WI. Another FUN time!! Friday night was beautiful, it was just Mom, Dad, Amy, Chris, Joe and me. We dropped the girls off at Joe's parents house and got up there and into the park a little after 4 and enjoyed a few drinks before watching the Makem Brothers. We then went over and watched the Tommy Makem tribute. I never thought I'd cry, but it was sad to thing that he is no longer with us! It was a beautifully done tribute to such a wonderful man!! Then we continued to "Drink the night away" and watched Gaelic Storm. Then went back to the hotel and called it a night!

Saturday was cool and rainy, but that didn't stop us! Mom and dad went to the park early, while Amy, Chris, Joe and I went to Rock Bottom for lunch. We then needed to find gas and apparently ended up in a ghetto where we got pulled over! The cop "escorted" us out of the "bad" area and all was well!! When we finally got to the park a little after 4, the Woods were already there and mom and dad had started their shift serving beer. We, again, enjoyed good music under umbrellas (and sometimes not under umbrellas) and managed to stay until the park closed, despite the rain!! We took a cab back to the hotel to find the Makem Brothers and a few other singers doing a wonderful "jam session". Mom and Amy went back to the hotel room earlier, but Dad, Chris, Joe and I stayed up until 4:30am!! Yikes!!! It was fun though!!

Some party-poopers didn't join us this year (Tony, Jeremy, Jason), but most of us returned despite the rain, and we even had some "newbies" (Zach and Meghan). It was a wonderful weekend away hanging out with family and friends!! I hope it happens again next year with even more family and friends!!

A few funny quotes from the weekend:

"Are you guys lost?!? You're in a bad area!"

"Boob scratcher"

"He's drinking it! He's drinking the Purple Haze!!"

"A Guinness from every crevice"

Here are a few pictures:

"If you pour it...they will come" So true! :)
