Kaylynn's speech evaluation

Yesterday Kaylynn had her speech evaluation done. Turns out she has a 33% delay (she needed at least a 30% delay to qualify for services). So she technically qualifies, but for now I declined services and will try to work with her at home. They will reevaluate her in 3 months. They said that she speaks at about the level of a 16 month old (she's almost 25 months). But her cognitive ability is that of a 31 month old. So that's a big difference, she's really smart, but can't talk about it! :) Hopefully in the next few months she'll catch up!

Also, her asthma seems to be more under control. We don't have to give her the albuterol (rescue medicine) as much and the allergist said we don't have to come back for 2 months! Yay!! She's still on flovent (inhaler), singular and zyrtek though.

Random January Events

This January has been rather busy! Kaylynn had to go to the allergist for her asthma/allergies and have the skin/prick test done. That was not fun! I was supposed to hold her so she couldn't arch her back, but it's almost impossible then she wiggled because it tickled when they were marking the pricks! I think the nurse got annoyed with me because I was unable to completely hold her! But once the allergins were in her skin, they started to itch, but we couldn't hold her or let her back touch anything and she was crying! I felt SO bad for her!!! Turned out none of the allergins completely reacted...yet, but it's very possible she's still just too young to have them in her blood (which is very common). But her nasal area was very swollen which means there's most likely allergens in her nose and she's just not old enough to have them in her blood yet. But her asthma wasn't being controlled properly (which explained all the coughing she's been doing). So she's on more meds. She's on Flovent 2 puffs 2x a day, prednisone, singular, Zyrtec and albuterol as needed. Poor kid!! We go back to the allergist on thursday (for the 3rd time this month) so hopefully we can figure out which of these meds she'll need long-term and such.

Kaylynn is also being evaluated for a possible speech delay. They are evaluating her today, I'll update this post later with more info.

This weekend Loren and I went to see Disney on Ice with Christine and Mackenzie!! It was a lot of fun! Very cute show!!! Loren enjoyed the popcorn, sitting by "miss Kenzie" and watching Tinkerbelle Ice Skate!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Kaylynn!

Kaylynn turned 2 a few days ago!! I can't believe how big she is getting!! For her birthday, we had her 2 year appointment (Kaylynn is 34 inches tall, 60 %tile weighs 26lbs, 30 %tile)! Luckily the only shot she got was the flu shot, so that's good! She didn't cry or anything!! She's so tough! After the appointment we went to open gym at Cary Gymnastics and then went to McDonalds for lunch!! After nap we went to Chuck E Cheese for dinner then came home to have cake (cookie cake) with Grandma and Grandpa! She also got to open a couple presents!! We're having a small party for her on the 10th where we'll celebrate a little more!

I have not had her 2 year pictures taken yet (I know, bad Mommy), but hope to get that done soon!! I do have a couple picture from her birthday though! Here they are:

I'll just touch a little bit! :)
